M.'S GINGERBREAD COOKIES | |
1 c. sugar 1 c. shortening 1 c. light molasses 2 tbsp. vinegar 2 eggs 5 1/2 c. sifted flour 1/2 tsp. salt 1 1/2 tsp. baking soda 2 tsp. ground ginger 2 tsp. ground cinnamon 1/2 tsp. ground cloves 1. Combine sugar, shortening, molasses and vinegar in saucepan. Bring to a boil. Cook 2 minutes and cool. Turn into a large bowl. 2. Beat eggs into cooled molasses mixture. 3. Sift together dry ingredients. Add to molasses mixture. Chill dough overnight. 4. Roll out in portions (1/4 at a time) on lightly floured surface to 1/8 inch thickness. 5. Cut with assorted cookie cutters. Decorate with candy assortment or raisins. Place 1 inch apart on cookie sheet. Bake at 375 degrees for 8 minutes. |
