GRANDMA'S JUMBO RAISIN COOKIES | |
3 eggs 1 c. shortening (I use butter flavor Crisco) 2 c. sugar 1 tsp. vanilla 1 c. water 1 lb. or less if you desire of seedless raisins 4 c. all-purpose flour 1 tsp. baking powder 1 tsp. baking soda 2 tsp. salt 1 1/2 tsp. cinnamon 1/4 tsp. nutmeg 1/4 tsp. allspice 1 c. chopped nuts Add water to seedless raisins and boil 5 minutes. Cool, cream shortening, gradually add sugar and mix well. Add eggs and beat well. Add vanilla and raisins plus liquid remaining. Sift together flour, baking powder, soda, salt and spices. Add to first mixture and blend well. Add chopped nuts. Chill dough overnight. Drop by tablespoons on greased baking sheet. Bake in 350 degree oven 12 to 15 minutes. Makes 5 dozen cookies. |
