JUMBO RAISIN COOKIES 
2 c. raisins
1 c. water
3 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1 c. shortening
1 3/4 c. sugar
2 eggs, slightly beaten
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 c. chopped nuts

Place raisins and water in pan. Boil 3 minutes. Cool (do not drain). Mix flour, soda, baking powder and spices. Cream shortening, gradually add sugar beating well after each addition. Beat in eggs. Stir in raisins and liquid. Stir in nuts. Drop by spoonful about 2 inches apart on greased baking sheet. Bake 12-15 minutes at 375 degrees.
