FESTIVE SHORTBREAD COOKIES 
1 lb. butter
1 c. sugar
4 1/2 to 5 c. flour

Mix butter and sugar with hands until well blended. Add flour 1 cup at a time, mixing with hands until easy to handle and not sticky. Put through cookie press.

Bake on ungreased cookie sheet at 375°F for 10 to 12 minutes.

To make the cookies more festive, food color may be added to the batter or cookies may be dipped in melted chocolate and nuts or sprinkles.
