KENTUCKY BUTTER CAKE 
3 c. all-purpose or unbleached flour
2 c. sugar
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
1 c. buttermilk
1 c. butter
2 tsp. vanilla
4 eggs

BUTTER SAUCE:

3/4 c. sugar
1/3 c. butter
3 tbsp. water
1-2 tsp. vanilla
Powdered sugar
Whipped cream (if desired)

Grease and lightly flour 12-cup Bundt cake pan. Lightly spoon flour into measuring cup; level off. Combine flour and all other cake ingredients in bowl and beat at low speed until moist; beat 3 minutes at medium speed. Pour batter into pan. Bake at 325 degrees for 55-70 minutes. Do not remove from pan.

In small saucepan combine all sauce ingredients. Cook over low heat until butter melts. Don't boil. Pierce hot cake 10-12 times with fork. Slowly pour hot sauce over cake. Cool completely. Sprinkle powdered sugar over top before serving with whipped cream.
