HAM CHOWDER 
2 c. boiling water
2 c. chopped potatoes
1/2 c. carrot slices
1/2 c. celery slices
1/4 c. chopped onion
1 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. pepper
1/4 c. butter
1/4 c. flour
2 c. milk
2 1/2 c. shredded cheese, cheddar or colby
16 oz. can cream style corn
1-2 c. cubed ham

Combine water, potatoes, carrots, celery, onion, salt and pepper. Cover and simmer 10 minutes or microwave on full power 10-15 minutes. DO NOT DRAIN. Melt butter in saucepan or microwave dish. Add flour and mix well. Add milk and stir constantly over medium heat until thick.

Can microwave on full power 6-8 minutes, stirring every 2 minutes until thick. Add cheese to milk/flour mixture. Then add cheese sauce, corn, ham to vegetables. Heat through on stove top or in microwave. Do not boil.

Since microwave ovens vary in power, you may need to adjust your cooking time.
