MICROWAVE CARAMEL CORN IN A
PAPER BAG

4 quarts popped corn
1 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup (1 stick) butter
1/4 cup corn syrup (Karo)
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. baking soda

Put the popped corn in a large paper grocery bag (Kroger, Meijer and Aldi has them... you may have to ask). Set aside.

Combine sugar, butter, corn syrup and salt in a 1-quart microwave suitable dish. Cool uncovered on HIGH for two minutes. Remove from microwave and stir thoroughly. Return to the microwave and cook an additional two minutes on HIGH. Remove from microwave and stir in baking soda... stir thoroughly.

Pour the mixture over the popcorn. With a long handled wooden spoon stir the popcorn well. Roll down the top of the bag and microwave one minute on HIGH. Remove the bag and stir the popcorn again. Roll down the top and cook one minute more on HIGH.

Remove bag and pour onto a cookie sheet or baking pan. Cool and eat.

Since microwave ovens vary in power, you may need to adjust your cooking time.
