MOM'S SOFT GINGER COOKIES 
1/2 c. shortening
1/2 c. sugar
1 egg
1/2 c. molasses
2 c. flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. ginger
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 c. hot water
1 tsp. baking soda

Mix together. Refrigerate 1-2 hours. Drop cookies onto a cookie sheet. Bake at 400 degrees for 8 minutes.
