PARTY FRENCH TOAST 
1/2 c. butter
1 loaf French bread, cut in 3/4" slices
8 eggs
2 c. milk
1/4 c. sugar
2 tsp. maple syrup
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 tsp. salt
Cinnamon
Powdered sugar to sprinkle
Walnut or pecan syrup

Spread butter over heavy baking pan with 1 1/2" sides. Put bread slices in pan. Mix the next 6 ingredients and pour over bread. Turn slices over and sprinkle with cinnamon. Cover with plastic and refrigerate overnight.

Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Bake 10 minutes, turn bread over and bake until golden brown about 5 minutes longer. Put on platter or plate and sprinkle with powdered sugar and pass nut syrup.

NUT SYRUP:

2 c. maple syrup
1 c. pecans or walnuts

Combine ingredients in heavy saucepan and simmer. Serve hot.
