1 c. shortening
1 egg
2 1/2 c. flour
3/4 tsp. salt
1 c. sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 tsp. baking soda
2 tbsp. milk

Cream shortening and sugar. Add eggs and vanilla; beat well. Add dry ingredients and milk mixing well. Drop by teaspoon onto cookie sheet and flatten with bottom of glass which has been dipped in granulated sugar. Sprinkle more sugar on cookie after flattening. Bake at 400 degrees for 2 minutes.
