1 c. sugar
1 c. shortening
1/2 tsp. salt
1 c. raisins (boil 10 min.)
5 tbsp. raisin liquid
2 eggs
2 c. oatmeal
2 c. flour
1 tsp. raisin liquid
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. cinnamon (or less)
1/4 tsp. cloves
1 c. walnuts (optional)
1 tsp. vanilla

Oven temperature 375 degrees.

Cream sugar and shortening. Add salt and eggs. Dissolve soda in raisin liquid, add to above mixture. Add dry ingredients. Last of all, add vanilla, raisins and nuts. Bake about 10 minutes after dropping from spoon on cookie sheets. 4 dozen cookies.
