DUMPLINGS FOR VEGETABLE SOUP 
1 c. boiling water
1/2 c. shortening
1 tsp. salt
1 c. flour
3 eggs

Put water, shortening and salt in a skillet. Let come to a boil and sift in flour, stirring over fire until mixture does not stick to the sides of the pan and becomes a smooth paste. Let cool. Beat in one egg at a time mixing thoroughly. Drop from a teaspoon into soup. Cover. Cook 20 minutes.
