BEEF & MUSHROOMS IN PITA 
1 tbsp. salad oil
1/4 c. walnuts, chopped
1 lb. ground beef
1 sm. onion, chopped
1/4 lb. mushrooms, sliced
1 (16 oz.) can tomatoes
1 tsp. sugar
1/8 to 1/4 tsp. crushed red pepper (to taste)
Pita bread

Cook walnuts in salad oil over medium heat until brown. Drain in paper towels and set aside. Brown ground beef and onions; drain excess fat. Add mushrooms, tomatoes (cut up with their liquid), sugar, crushed red pepper and salt (if desired). Cook over high heat to boiling. Reduce heat to medium and simmer uncovered until liquid is absorbed and flavors blended. To serve, cut the pita bread in half and fill with meat. Sprinkle with walnuts.

Also can be done in your microwave in a casserole dish; cook walnuts on the stove.

Since microwave ovens vary in power, you may need to adjust your cooking time.
