PEAR COMPOTE 
6 firm pears, peeled
1/2 c. water
1/2 c. red wine
1 c. sugar
1 cinnamon stick
1/2 lemon, sliced

1. Combine water, wine, sugar, cinnamon stick and lemon slices in a saucepan. Bring to a boil.

2. Add pears, cover and cook until pears are tender. Baste pears with the syrup occasionally.

3. Cool. Serve chilled. Serves 6.
