DATE & NUT BREAD 
1/2 lb. dates
1 tsp. baking soda
1 c. boiling water
1 c. sugar
1/4 c. butter
1 egg
1 1/2 c. flour
1/2 tsp. salt

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Alternate ingredients with date juice.

1/2 c. nuts
1 tsp. vanilla

Bake in pound cake pan for 1 hour and 15 minutes.
