1/2 c. buttermilk
1/2 tsp. baking soda

Mix buttermilk and soda together. Add to mixture with eggs and vanilla. Mix well and bake at 400 degrees for 25 minutes. Bake in well greased and floured 9 x 13 inch pan.

ICING:

1 stick butter
3 tbsp. cocoa
6 tbsp. milk
1 box powdered sugar

(Use same boiler not washed.) Bring first 3 ingredients to a boil, stirring well. Remove from heat and add one box of powdered sugar. Mix well and pour over cake while hot. Chopped pecans or walnuts may be added to icing if desired. May have to add a little more milk so it will pour better. Let cool and serve.
