PINTO BEANS 
1 lb. pinto beans
1-2 qts. water
1/4 lb. ham hock
1 tbsp. chili powder
1 tbsp. sugar
1 tsp. black pepper
1/4 tsp. oregano
1 clove garlic, minced
1 lg. onion, chopped
1 tsp. salt

Put all ingredients in large pot except salt, which should be added 30 minutes before beans are done. Simmer 5-6 hours. Add more water, if needed.
