OATMEAL COOKIES WITH FILLING 
4 c. quick oatmeal
2 c. flour
1 1/2 c. brown sugar
1 c. butter or Crisco
1 tbsp. baking soda

Cream butter and sugar well. Dissolve baking soda in just enough hot water and add to mixture. Mix flour and oatmeal together in bowl and add to first mixture and mix well. Roll very thin, cut and bake at 350°F. Put filling between 2 cookies.

FILLING:

1 (8 oz.) pkg. chopped dates
1 c. sugar
1 c. water
1 c. raisins

Boil ingredients for filling until thick as jam.
