GRANDMA'S PICCADILLO | |
1 lg. onion, sliced 2 cloves garlic, chopped 2 tbsp. olive oil 1 1/2 lbs. ground chuck 1 (8 oz.) can tomato sauce 1/2 c. white or red wine 1 lg. tomato, peeled & chopped 1/4 c. seedless raisins 1/2 c. stuffed olives, chopped 1/2 tsp. chili powder 1/2 tsp. ground cumin 1 1/4 tsp. salt 1/4 tsp. pepper 2 green peppers, cut in strips Saute onion and garlic in oil in large skillet for 5 minutes. Stir in beef. Cook until brown. Drain, add rest of ingredients. Bring to a boil. Simmer 15 minutes. Add green pepper. Cook 1 minute longer. Serve over rice. |
