GOURMET BEEF STEW 
3/4 lb. beef stew meat
1 tbsp. flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tbsp. shortening or other fat
1 (6 oz.) can tomato sauce
1 clove garlic, minced
Dash of powdered bay leaf
Dash thyme
1/2 tsp. monosodium glutamate
3/4 c. consomme, water or dry red wine
2 tsp. vinegar
2 carrots, sliced (3/4 c.)
1 med. potato, diced (3/4 c.)
1 rib celery, sliced
6 sm. whole onions
1/2 c. frozen green peas

Cut beef into 2 inch pieces. Coat with mixture of flour and salt. Heat shortening in ceramic skillet and quickly brown meat on all sides. Add tomato sauce, seasonings, consomme or other liquid, and vinegar. Cover and cook in microwave oven for 20 minutes or until beef is tender.

Since microwave ovens vary in power, you may need to adjust your cooking time.
