BEST IRISH SODA BREAD 
4 1/2 c. flour
4 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
3 tbsp. sugar
2 tbsp. caraway seeds
1 c. raisins
2 c. buttermilk

Sugar

Heat oven to 350 degrees. Grease and flour a cookie sheet. Mix the flour with baking powder, soda, salt, sugar and caraway seeds. Stir in the raisins making sure they are separated. Add the buttermilk all at once and mix to form a dough.

Sprinkle flour on a work surface; turn out the dough and knead about 5 minutes until smooth. Use flour only as needed to prevent sticking. Form into a round loaf. Bake 1 hour or until lightly browned. You may wish to rub the loaf with some butter and to sprinkle some sugar over it.
