CHOCOLATE PUFF BALLS 
1 c. sugar
1/3 c. water
1/3 c. light corn syrup
1 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. butter
1 1/2 sq. unsweetened chocolate (1 1/2 oz.)
1 tsp. vanilla
8 c. chocolate flavored corn puff cereal

Mix sugar, water, corn syrup, salt, butter and chocolate in saucepan. Heat until chocolate is melted. Bring to boil. Cook to 250 degrees on candy thermometer or until a few drops form a hard ball when dropped in cold water.

Remove from heat; stir in vanilla. Pour hot syrup over cereal in large buttered bowl. Stir constantly to distribute syrup. Form in balls with buttered hands. If balls pull apart, reshape occasionally until they harden. Makes 16 large balls.
