PUMPKIN BREAD | |
2/3 c. shortening 2 2/3 c. sugar 4 eggs 1 can pumpkin 2/3 c. water or orange juice 3 1/2 c. flour 1/2 tsp. baking soda 1 1/2 tsp. salt 1 tsp. cinnamon 1 tsp. cloves 2/3 c. nuts 2/3 c. raisins (optional) 2/3 c. chopped dates (optional) STEP 1: Cream shortening and sugar thoroughly. STEP 2: Add eggs, pumpkin, orange juice. STEP 3: Sift dry ingredients. Add to mixture. STEP 4: Add nuts, dates and raisins. STEP 5: Pour into 3 greased loaf pans or 4 greased coffee cans 1 lb. size. Fill half full. STEP 6: Bake for about 1 hour at 350 degrees or until a toothpick comes out clean. |
