SALISBURY STEAK WITH MUSHROOM
GRAVY
 
1 lb. ground round steak or ground beef
1/4 tsp. pepper
1 tsp. salt
2 tbsp. fat or vegetable oil
Mushroom gravy (below)

Combine meat, pepper and salt. Shape into 3 or 4 plump oval patties. Pan fry in hot fat in a skillet or broil 4-6 minutes on each side. Serve with mushroom gravy.

MUSHROOM GRAVY:

1/4 c. sliced mushrooms or 1 can mushrooms
2 tbsp. flour
1 c. water
1 beef bouillon cube

Remove meat patties to a warm plate. Pan fry mushrooms in drippings. Add flour to drippings in pan; stir. Add water and bouillon cube. Cook until mixture boils, cube is dissolved and sauce is thickened. Pour over patties. (2 generous servings.)
