SLOW BAKED CHICKEN WINGS
5 lb. frozen chicken wings
10 oz. soy sauce
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup white sugar
2 tablespoons molasses or honey
1/8 teaspoon (or to taste) cayenne pepper (optional)
5 cloves garlic, peeled
fresh ginger, 1-inch piece, peeled

In a blender, combine soy sauce, sugar, molasses or honey, cayenne pepper, garlic and ginger.

In a disposable aluminum 10x12 inch pan (or a regular pan lined with foil), pour blended mixture over the still-frozen chicken wings.

Place on center oven rack and bake at 250°F for 2 - 2 1/2 hours, turning and basting every 30-40 minutes. When wings are done they will be tender. Remove from sauce and serve immediately or keep warm in a Crock-Pot.

I cut down on the soy sauce, 1/2 cup by substituting fruit juice (orange/peach) and I cut back on the sugar to 1/4 cup each. Slow cooked and yummy!

If you want to eat them in the same 24 hour time period, put them in the air fryer at 375°F for about 15-20 minutes. If I don't deep fry them, that's where I get the best results. No one wants to wait forever to eat them!

No cook time given. Had to put chicken in slow cooker on high for 4 hours.

 Marie (Tennessee) replies:
Carol, the Crock-Pot suggestion is for keeping them warm, not to cook. But thanks for the info anyways! They might be tastier that way!

I used a 6lb whole chicken that I spatchcocked.
I used 1/2 the sugars and 1/2 the soy sauce, a lemons worth of seat and 1/2 a lemons juice. Cooked 4 1/2 hours. After starting at 400°F and immediately turning down when I put the chicken in. This was extremely delicious! I served it with green salad, carrots and white rice.

Just a comment on this site in general. It doesn't matter what I want to make or the occasion, cooks.com has it. I couldn't cook without this site... THANK YOU FROM THE BOTTOM OF MY HEART or should I say bottom of my stomach.

I place it on a BBQ an it works great! My BBQ has rack that go up an down it will not over cook or under cook. Also I put wood in my BBQ. so it can cook longer without replacing BBQ coals.

The secret of success with this recipe is to cook them at 400°F for the first and last twenty minutes and the rest of the time at 250°F.

I love these. If you want to do something a little more, poor off the remaining sauce at about 2 hours and simmer it until it becomes thick(er). Then glaze the wings with the sauce and stick them under the broiler for about 1-2 minutes.

I made this recipe as is and it was great. For those who subbed bbq sauce for soy sauce, did you add the sugar also?

Baking them frozen will make them more tender and juicy inside. So I will try this recipe.

tried on a whim but didn't use wings though I did mine with chicken legs and boy-oh-boy I could not stop eating them. My family loved them also I did mine on 300°F in an convection oven for about 2hr 40mins the meat fell off the bone, the flavor was poppin and it made me wanna slap somebody ( hehehe). Anyway would do this again with boneless thighs next time. Oh yeah I also flipped my meat once after bout an hour. happy eating :-)

I made these and my son who doesn't normally like chicken, loved these. I thawed my chicken and washed thoroughly and it did cut down on half the time. Excellent recipe!

Excellent recipe. Hassle free with cooking chicken frozen. I adjusted the time. 350°F for two hours, 400°F for 1/2 hour, an extra 1/2 hour added, moved from center rack to the top for crispness. Will definitely cook again.

This is close to a recipe I found years ago that my youngest daughter loved. Going to see if this is close to it and put in in my book because I lost the other recipe.

The wings turned out great after we poured some the juice off, very tender. Cooked for 2 1/2 hours. We made beans and rice with mixed veggies and tea biscuits. Great Sunday dinner.
