ORANGE BUTTER COOKIES IN
CHOCOLATE

1 c. sugar
3/4 c. butter, softened
1 tsp. vanilla
1 egg
2 c. all purpose flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
2 tbsp. grated orange peel

GLAZE:

6 oz. pkg. semi sweet chocolate chips
1/4 c. butter
3 tbsp. light corn syrup

In a large bowl beat sugar and butter until light and fluffy. Blend in vanilla and egg. Combine flour, baking powder, salt and orange peel. Add to butter mixture. Roll dough into 1 inch balls. Place 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheet. Flatten with bottom of glass dipped in sugar to 1/8 to 1/4 inch thickness. Bake at 350 degrees for 6 to 8 minutes or until edges are lightly browned.

In a small saucepan over low heat combine chocolate chips, 1/4 cup butter and corn syrup stirring constantly until smooth. Remove from heat. Dip 1/2 of each cookie into glaze; shake off excess chocolate. Place dipped cookies on waxed paper lined cookie sheets. Chill until glaze is set, about 10 minutes. Makes 6 dozen cookies.
