FRENCH ONION SOUP
3 c. thinly sliced onions
1/4 c. butter
3 (10 3/4 oz.) cans beef broth
1 tsp. ground black pepper
2 tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
4 slices toasted French bread
1/4 c. grated Parmesan cheese
1 1/2 c. shredded Swiss cheese

1. Combine onions and butter in a 3 quart glass casserole. Microwave, uncovered, at power level 10 for 6-8 minutes, until onions are very soft, stirring twice.

2. Add pepper, Worcestershire sauce and beef broth. Cover and microwave at power level 10 for 4 minutes, then at power level 7 for 12 minutes. Stir once after 3 minutes.

3. Place bread slice in center of each individual soup bowl, ladle soup over bread. Sprinkle with the 2 cheeses.

4. Place under the broiler until cheese melts and bubbles. Makes 4 servings.

Since microwave ovens vary in power, you may need to adjust your cooking time.
