2 c. flour
1/4 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 c. shortening
1 c. sugar
2 eggs
1 1/2 tbsp. sour milk
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. grated apples with peel
1/2 c. nuts

FROSTING:

1 c. confectioners' sugar
1/4 c. shortening
1/4 c. butter
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 c. milk
3 tbsp. flour

Sift dry ingredients together. Add shortening, eggs, milk, vanilla, apples and nuts. Mix thoroughly. Pour into greased and floured 9"x13" pan and bake at 350 degrees for 35 to 40 minutes.

To make frosting, combine 1/2 cup milk and 3 tablespoons flour in pan. Cook until transparent, let stand until cold. Mix with remaining ingredients.
