POPPY CAKE DOUGH | |
1/2 lb. salt butter 3 eggs, beaten 1/2 c. milk 5 cent yeast cake 1/2 c. sugar 5 or more c. flour 1/2 pt. sour cream 1/2 tsp. salt Mix sugar with butter and cream. Then add eggs beaten to mixture. Let yeast melt in lukewarm milk. After sugar, butter and eggs, then add sour cream, add salt, then alternate milk and flour until dough doesn't stick to bowl. Roll out dough and fill, then roll. Let raise for 3 or 4 hours. Bake 20 to 30 minutes in moderate oven. POPPY SEED: 1 lb. poppy seed, heat 1 1/2 c. sugar 1 c. milk 1 tbsp. honey 2 tbsp. melted butter Raisins (optional) NUTS: 1 lb. nuts, ground 3/4 c. sugar 3 tbsp. water Mix nuts with all ingredients. |
