CARROTS AU GRATIN | |
1/2 c. crushed seasoned croutons 3 tbsp. butter 1/3 c. chopped onion 3 tbsp. flour 1 tsp. salt 1/8 tsp. pepper 1 1/2 c. milk 1 c. grated process cheese (Velveeta or American 4 c. cooked sliced carrots 1 tbsp. dried parsley flakes Crush seasoned croutons fine and set aside. In saucepan over low heat, melt the butter; add onion and cook only until tender. Stir in flour, salt and pepper and remove from heat. Add milk gradually, stirring until smooth. Return to medium heat and cook until bubbly and thickened, stirring constantly. Add cheese, stirring until melted. Remove from heat and stir in carrots and parsley. Spread in greased 1 1/2-quart baking dish. Sprinkle crumbs over top. Bake at 350 degrees for about 20 minutes or until hot and bubbly. Let stand 3-5 minutes before serving. Serves 6. |
