GERMAN APPLE CAKE | |
CAKE: 1 c. sugar 1 c. flour 4 tbsp. butter, softened 1 tsp. baking powder 1 tsp. vanilla 1 lg. egg 4 lg. Pippin apples TOPPING: 3 tbsp. sugar 3 tbsp. melted butter 1 tsp. cinnamon 1 lg. egg Combine all cake ingredients except apples in bowl. Blend until mixture resembles cornmeal. Spread mixture in bottom of a well buttered 9" springform pan. Peel, core and slice apples. Arrange apples in layers on top of the crumb mixture. Bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes. Add sugar, butter, cinnamon and egg in blender and process until mixture is smooth and sugar dissolved. Spoon mixture over apples and bake 25 to 30 minutes more, or until top is firm. |
