JIM'S SUMMER FRUIT SALAD
1 watermelon

Slice in 1/2 lengthwise, remove melon with a melon baller or cut into bite-size chunks. Remove as many seeds as you can. Save watermelon shell to use as serving basket.

1 med cantaloupe AND 1 med. honeydew, halved, seeded, cut into bite-size chunks or balls
1 med. pineapple, peeled, cored & cut into thin wedges
2 c. green grapes (if lg. cut in half)
1 pt. strawberries (if lg. cut in half)
1 pt. blueberries
2 kiwis, peeled & sliced thin
1/3 c. superfine sugar
1/3 c. tawny port wine

Place all of the above in a large bowl. Toss well to mix. Cover and chill 2-3 hours.

2 med. bananas, sliced
Juice of 2 limes

Place lime juice in a small bowl. Let banana slices fall into lime juice and toss lightly. Add bananas and lime juice to chilled fruit mix and toss lightly. Recover and chill about 30 minutes. Toss lightly and transfer into watermelon basket or serve in a very large bowl.

Note: Sugar and tawny port may be left out when serving children. It can be divided into two parts - one with port and one without. Children love to make this salad. Quantities of fruit can vary depending on taste and availability.
