FRY BREAD
4 c. flour
1 1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tbsp. sugar
2 tbsp. shortening
1 egg
1 pkg. yeast
1/2 c. warm water
1 1/2 c. warm milk

Dissolve yeast in 1/2 cup warm water. Combine sugar, shortening and egg. Mix well. Add yeast and milk. Sift dry ingredients together and add to above mixture, a little at a time. Knead dough and let stand about 20-30 minutes. Roll out a little thicker than for pie dough. (If too thick, it will not puff up and have a hole in center.) Cut in squares or rectangle shapes 2 x 5 inches. Fry in deep fat at 375 degrees until golden brown. Turn and brown on other side. Best when served hot with honey.

These can be used for Indian Tacos. Just cut them as large as a saucer.
