COCONUT POUND CAKE 
1 1/2 c. Crisco
3 c. plain or cake flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1 c. sweet milk
1 can Angel Flake coconut
2 tbsp. butter
3 1/2 c. sugar
5 eggs
1/4 tsp. salt
2 tsp. coconut flavoring
1/2 c. water
1/8 c. white karo syrup (2 tbsp.)

Beat 2 1/2 cups sugar and shortening on high speed for 10 minutes. Add eggs one at a time, beating after each. Add flour, baking powder and salt alternately with milk. Add 1 teaspoon of flavoring. Fold in coconut. Bake in tube pan at 350 degrees for 1 hour.

In a saucepan mix 1 cup sugar, 1 teaspoon flavoring, the water, butter and Karo syrup. Boil for 5 minutes. Pour over cake while its hot.
