BEV'S HOMEMADE ROLLS | |
2 c. warm water 1/2 c. sugar 1/4 c. soft or liquid shortening 6 1/2 to 7 c. flour 2 pkg. dry yeast 2 tsp. salt 1 egg, beaten Put warm water in a large mixing bowl. Add yeast, sugar, salt, shortening and beaten egg and mix well. Add about 4 cups of flour and mix in with a large spoon. Gradually add the rest of the flour and mix by hand until mixture is neither sticky nor dry. Cover and allow to rise until double in size. Punch down and make into rolls approximately 1 1/2-inches in diameter; allow to rise again. Bake at 375°F for 15 to 20 minutes. Best served warm. |
