CRANBERRY NUT LOAF 
Bread:

3 cups flour
3 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
3/4 tsp. baking soda
1 cup sugar
1/2 cup shortening
2 eggs
1 1/4 cup milk
1 tsp. grated orange rind
1/2 cup walnuts or pecans
1 cup cranberries (whole, fresh)

Sauce:

2 cups powdered sugar
1 stick real butter
2 egg yolks
juice and pulp of 1 orange

Grease and flour a 9 X 5-inch pan. Preheat oven to 350°F. Combine the flour, baking powder, salt, soda, and sugar in a mixing bowl. Cut in the shortening. In another bowl combine the eggs, milk, and orange rind. Add this to the dry ingredients. Fold in the nuts and cranberries.

Bake 1 hour at 350°F. If making muffins bake 20 to 25 minutes. Serve with orange sauce made as follows.

Combine powdered sugar, butter, egg yolks, and orange juice and pulp in the top of a double boiler. Cook for 10 minutes. Put in refrigerator to cool.
