CALIFORNIA RAISIN BARS 
1 med. orange, halve
1 c. dark raisins
1/3 c. chopped walnuts
2/3 c. soft butter
1 1/2 c. light brown sugar, firmly packed
2 1/2 c. sifted all purpose flour
3 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
2 eggs, beaten
1/2 c. milk

Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Squeeze juice from orange. Set juice aside.

Cut up rest of orange coarsely. Put through coarse blade of food chopper with raisins and walnuts. In large bowl, combine butter with sugar, mixing well. Stir in flour to make a crumbly mixture.

Remove 2 cups flour mixture; press into bottom of 13 x 9 x 2 inch baking pan. Stir baking powder and salt into rest of flour mixture. Combine eggs, milk and orange juice; stir. Pour into flour mixture along with raisin mixture; mix well.

Pour over cookie layer in baking pan. Bake 30 to 35 minutes, or until golden brown. Let cool completely in pan on wire rack. Cut into 32 bars.
