2 lbs. ground chuck or 1 lb. chuck or 1 lb. venison
1 c. bread crumbs
2 eggs, beaten
8 oz. can tomato sauce
1 med. onion, chopped
2-3 tbsp. chopped green pepper
1 1/2 tsp. salt
Dash: thyme, marjoram, other herbs

Mix everything up well. Shape into a loaf. Shape in a flat pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour.

To make a fancy top, make diagonal "ditches" in loaf before baking and drizzle on chili sauce. Serves 6.

You may also use this meat mixture to stuff green pepper halves. Load them into a flat casserole. Add 1 inch of water, cover with foil, bake 1/2 hour, then uncover and finish baking.
