SPICY CAKE DOUGHNUTS 
3 1/4 c. all-purpose flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon
1/4 tsp. ground nutmeg
Dash salt
2 eggs
2/3 c. sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
2/3 c. light cream
1/4 c. butter, melted
1/2 c. sugar
1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon

Stir to combine thoroughly the flour, baking powder, 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon, nutmeg and salt. Beat together eggs, 2/3 cup sugar and vanilla until thick and lemon colored. Combine light cream and melted butter. Alternately add dry ingredients and cream mixture, half at a time, to egg mixture. Beat just until blended after each addition. Chill dough 2 hours.

Roll dough 3/8" thick on floured surface; cut with floured doughnut cutter. Fry in deep hot fat, 375 degrees, turning once. (Allow about 1 minute per side.) Drain on paper toweling. Shake warm doughnuts in a mixture of the 1/2 cup sugar and 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon. Makes 20.
