1 1/2 c. flour
1 c. sugar
1/4 c. cocoa
1 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. salt
1 c. water
1/4 c. applesauce or vegetable oil
1 tbsp. vinegar
1 tsp. vanilla
2 tbsp. powdered sugar

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Combine flour, sugar, cocoa, soda and salt. Add water, vinegar, and vanilla and stir until smooth. Pour into a greased and floured 8-inch square pan. Bake for 35-40 minutes or until cake tester comes out clean. Cool. Dust with powdered sugar.
