ROUND STEAK PIQUANT | |
1/2 c. flour 2 tsp. salt 1/4 tsp. pepper 2 lbs. round steak, 1 inch thick 3 tbsp. cooking oil 2 (8 oz.) cans tomato sauce 1 tbsp. sugar 1/4 tsp. salt 1 tbsp. pepper 1 tbsp. Worcestershire sauce 2 dashes Tabasco sauce 1 med. onion, sliced Combine flour, salt, and pepper. Cut steak into 6 serving pieces; dredge in flour. Put in oven-proof skillet with lid. Heat oil to medium-hot, slowly brown meat on both sides. Drain fat. Combine rest of ingredients, except onion slices, and pour over steak. Simmer, uncovered, about 5 minutes. Top with onion slices. Cover. Place in oven and bake at 350 degrees until fork tender, 1 or 1 1/2 hours. |
