APPLESAUCE CAKE 
1 1/2 c. applesauce
1 c. sugar
1/2 c. butter
1 c. raisins
1/2 tsp. each cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg & salt
1/2 c. citron
1/2 c. dates
1 1/2 c. nuts
3 c. flour
2 tsp. baking soda

Use sweetened applesauce. Add to creamed butter and sugar. Cut fruit and mix with 1 cup of flour. Mix other ingredients into remaining sifted flour. Mix altogether and bake slowly. Is especially good with old fashioned walnuts. This cake will keep fresh for quite some time.
