ANGEL COOKIES 
1/2 c. brown sugar
1/2 c. white sugar
1/2 c. shortening
1/2 c. butter
1 egg
1/2 c. nuts, chopped fine
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla
2 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. cream of tartar

Cream sugars, shortening and butter until fluffy. Add egg, mix well. Add dry ingredients, mix well. Form into small balls, dip in cold water, then sugar. Press with fingers on cookie sheet. Bake at 350 degrees for 10 minutes.
