1 3/4 c. sugar
1 c. Crisco
1/2 c. buttermilk or plain yogurt
2 eggs
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 tsp. lemon extract
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
4 c. flour

Cream Crisco and sugar. Add beaten eggs. Add soda to buttermilk. Add this with extracts to first mixture. Mix flour and other dry ingredients. Mix and refrigerate. When dough is chilled, roll out to about 1/4 inch thick (no thinner). Cut out cookies and place on sprayed baking sheets. Bake at 350 degrees until lightly browned on bottoms.
