CORN FRITTERS 
1/2 c. warm water
1 pkg. active dry yeast
2 tbsp. sugar
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tbsp. shortening
1 egg
1 1/2 c. all-purpose flour, sifted
1 c. drained whole kernel corn
Grease, enough to fry in a skillet

In a mixing bowl, dissolve yeast in warm water. Stir in sugar, salt, shortening, egg and flour. Stir to mix well. Blend in whole kernel corn. Cover and let rise in a warm place until mixture has doubled (30 to 45 minutes). Heat grease to 375 degrees. Stir down batter and drop by teaspoonfuls into hot grease. Fry until golden brown turning only once. Drain on paper towels and serve hot with honey butter or syrup.
