CINNAMON PICKLES 
7 1/2 c. sugar
8 sticks cinnamon
2 c. water
2 c. vinegar
1 pkg. red hots
2 c. lime
8 1/2 c. water
1/2 oz. red food color
1 tbsp. alum
Enough water to cover cucumbers

Peel and deseed cucumbers. Cut in strips. Mix 2 cups lime and 8 1/2 cups water; stir well. Pour over cucumbers. Soak 24 hours. Pour off and rinse thoroughly. Put 1 cup vinegar, food color, alum, and enough water to cover. Simmer 2 hours; drain and throw away. Make syrup of other water, 2 cups vinegar, sugar, cinnamon, and red hots. Boil and pour over cucumbers. Next day, drain syrup and reboil. Pour over cucumbers. Third day, boil syrup, cucumbers, and cinnamon.
