HERB BREAD #2 | |
1 c. warm water 1 pkg. dried yeast (2 tbsp.) 1 1/2 tsp. salt 2 tsp. sugar 3/4 tsp. thyme 3/4 tsp. dill 1/2 tsp. rosemary 1 tbsp. soft shortening 3 c. flour Poppy seeds for top Dissolve yeast in water. Mix salt, sugar, herbs and shortening. Finely shop or grind herbs before adding. Blend in 1/2 cup flour. Add remaining flour as needed to form a soft dough. Let rise 1 1/2 hours. Form into 18 inch roll. Let rise 1 hour. Brush with water. Sprinkle seeds on top. Bake at 425 degrees for 20 to 30 minutes. Note: Exceptionally delicious served with hot soup! |
