JEWISH APPLE CAKE | |
Apple filling: 8 or 9 apples 1/2 c. sugar 4 tbsp. cinnamon Peel and slice 8 or 9 apples, mix with 1/2 cup sugar and 4 tablespoons cinnamon. Set aside. Cake: 3 c. all-purpose flour 2 c. sugar 3 tbsp. baking powder 2 1/2 tsp. vanilla 1 tsp. salt 4 eggs 1 c. oil or 2 sticks butter, melted 1/4 c. pineapple or orange juice Beat all ingredients well. Batter will be heavy and must be finished by hand. Pour into a greased tube pan half of batter, then arrange half of the apple mixture on batter, then add rest of the batter and second half of apples. Bake at 350°F for 1 hour and 45 minutes or until done when tested. When you take cake out of the oven, run knife around edge of pan. Let cool. Submitted by: Dotty Creutz |
