HOT WATER PIE CRUST (NEVER FAIL) | |
1 cup all-purpose flour 1/4 teaspoon baking powder 1/2 teaspoon salt 1/4 cup Crisco vegetable shortening 3 tablespoons boiling water This is a great pie crust for beginners. Preheat oven to 450°F. Sift together flour, baking powder, and salt. Cut in shortening with two knives or a pastry blender. Add boiling water. Allow to cool before rolling out. Roll out to 1/8-inch thickness on a silicone mat or wax paper. Line a 9-inch pie pan with the pastry. To bake, use a fork to prick pastry very thoroughly on sides and bottom. Bake for 12 to 15 minutes, or until lightly browned. Cool before filling with your favorite filling. |
