PIE CRUST (HOT WATER) | |
2 1/2 c. flour 1 c. shortening 1/3 c. hot water 1 tbsp. evaporated milk 1 tsp. salt In bowl place 1 cup shortening. Add hot water (boiling) and milk. Beat until thick and creamy. Add sifted flour and salt, stir. Divide dough into 2 balls and roll out crust, place in 9 inch pie plate. Put in desired filling. Roll out second ball, place on top. Crimp edges and vent. Bake makes two crust. Roll crusts out between 2 sheets of wax paper. Remove one side of paper place in buttered pan, then remove remaining paper. Do same for top crust. This may be made in a food processor. Process shortening and liquids first, add salt, then add flour 1 cup at a time, processing after each addition. |
